Since the previous Yearly Report given in September 2016, the following physical restorations have been completed or are near completion:
The sidewalk replacement along St. Antoine St. was partially completed in the fall of 2016. The entire Monroe St. sidewalk was replaced in the spring 2017 along with the balance of the front sidewalk along St. Antoine St. The total cost for this project was $ 68,500.00.
The exterior roof replacement for the entire church was completed in October 2016. The total cost for this project was $ 561,000.00.
The Baptismal Grotto restoration was completed including plaster, new mural, glass, all statue restorations, paint, floor, electrical and ceiling. The total cost for this project was $ 25,086.00.
The Gethsemane Grotto is nearly fully restored (there will be kneelers in place this fall). The work included electrical, new mural, stairs, floor, Tomb of Christ (new installation), ceiling and all statues were restored. The total cost for this project was $ 74,936.00.
The parking lot complete replacement will start 2 weeks after Homecoming. This will be an entire replacement including a new ramp/sidewalk entrance to the Parish Center.
Additional historic statues were restored during the year at a total cost of $ 4,300.00. There are just a few additional statues to complete all statue restoration work this new year.
The Knights of Columbus # 305 were moved to their new quarters in the basement of the Parish Center. All our original furniture was returned to us and installed in the new meeting room. The total cost for this was a lot of volunteer labor.
The footings in the church which are under the 10 polished granite pillars (i.e. the pillars that are responsible for the church structure being stable) were found to be very sound and there will only need to be minor work done to ensure future stability.
There were many small projects that were completed during the year to help and maintain our beautiful church and rectory.
