Since the previous Yearly Report given in September 2018, the following physical restorations have been completed or are near completion:
Much concrete work was done and is finishing at this time. Areas included
the front steps of the church, the entire area between the rectory and parish
center and new rectory parking. Total costs of $27,000.00
The exterior stained-glass project started in spring 2018 is nearing completion. All the
old exterior window covers, repairing of the wood frames, painting the frames, repairs
to the stained glass and then clear protective covers are nearly all installed on all
93 windows. This project carried a total cost of $ 448,000.00.
The restoration was completed at the Lourdes Grotto. This will be the most extensive
restoration of all the grottos. The stained-glass windows were uncovered, floor
space was greatly expanded, kneelers added, statues were restored, the floor was repaired,
new lighting was added, a gate was added at the parish center entrance and many
more smaller details. This was completed at a cost of $ 58,000.00.
The cement steps and porch at the Parish Center entrance were completed. The
brand new and matching wrought iron rails that match the rest of the fencing
that is around the church property was just recently installed.
Masonry work was done at the garage, boiler building, church pond area, and
other smaller areas to fortify those structures. Costs totaled $ 11,000.00
Additional historic statues are being restored during the year. There are just a
final few additional statues to complete all statue restoration work this new year.
We were also fortunate to acquire the two antique angels that frame the high
altar in the Sanctuary. These have been restored and just put back in place.
The footings in the church which are under the 10 polished granite pillars (i.e. the pillars
that are responsible for the church structure being stable) were found to be very
sound and only needed minor work done to ensure future stability. This was
completed at the end of last year.
Other projects completed during the year: Many vestments and altar linen repair and
restoration; a new bathroom on the second floor of the Parish Center; the organ was
updated (inner workings); St. Michael statue was acquired and is located at the inner front
doors of the church; bathroom in the apartment was renovated and many other smaller
projects.
