font of mercy we all drink! “
CHANT – REVERENCE – SILENCE
Come, let us adore!, and journey together on the path that leads us to true communion with our God. As a community of believers, we arrive at the summit, the most efficacious prayer known to mankind: The Holy Mass.
Reverence, Recollection, and Contemplation draw us to a better understanding of the mystery of our Faith. Our finite minds alone cannot comprehend the eternal. In the Liturgy, we experience Heaven on Earth: the immeasurable becomes measurable, and things unseen are visible.
Liturgy means “action of the people.” Thus, every person at the Mass is called to participate with contemplation and prayer. It is our human response to the definition of this word. In the celebration of the Eucharistic, Christ is present and His action is participated and shared in ways adapted to our humanity, which needs words, signs and rites.
The assumption that you need to understand Latin to participate in the Liturgy is false. Empty yourself of this presupposition because the rich ceremonious traditions of this Liturgy will orient you towards the adoration of God, giving you a sense of the sacred. Your heart and mind will be filled with the peace that can only come from our Lord and savior Jesus Christ.
We pray in Latin because it is the language of Holy Mother the Church. Latin reflects the universal definition of the word Catholic, and we are faithful to that definition by praying in our community with one voice. God listens to prayers in any languages, and even hears non-vocal prayer. However, we need to move outside of ourselves, and worship Him with the voice of the Church. This is the rational and the wisdom for praying in Latin — don’t let it stop you from drinking from the font of the Church’s treasury!
Latin Mass is every Sunday at 10:00 am
Faithfully served by the Holy Spirit Fathers since 1893
