The Holy Ghost Fathers (Spiritans)
 Since 1893, the Spiritans have faithfully served Old St. Mary’s Church. The Spiritan Fathers continue to exercise their rule of Faith by making themselves advocates, supporters, and defenders of the weak and little ones. The Spiritans are sharing the Good News of God's love on five continents. Before she gained the title “Old”, St. Mary’s was known for many years as the “Church of the Grottos.”

   There are three Grottos: the grotto of Gethesemane, depicting Christ’s agony in the Garden of Olives; the Baptismal Grotto, depicting Christ’s Baptism in the Jordan River by John the Baptist complete with running water; and the Lourdes Grotto which is a replica of that French shrine.
Old St. Mary’s is a spritual oasis in Downtown Detroit. Daily confession and Mass attracts the business community, government, court employees, and out of town visitors.

Help us feed Detroi'ts homeless population!On the first Monday of the month at 5:30 pm in the parish center, the Christian Service Commission serves a tasty meal to the homeless. 

Get on our mailing list to be notified of music events at Old St. Marys.
 
Our choir sings for the 10:00 am Mass on Sundays and for various celebrations throughout the year.
 
St. Michael's in Tanzania has been our sister parish for over 20 years. Your prayers for the Church in Africa is grealty needed.

Monday thru Saturday 11:50 am - 12:10 pm.

Fifteen minutes prior to each Liturgy.

Sacramental Life
Baptism:
Call the parish office to make arrangements.
 Matrimony:
Must be registered parishioner for at least one-year. Initial meeting with the Pastor and arrangements made at least six-months in advance.
First Holy Communion:
Taught by the Sisters of Jesus Christ Crucified.
