MUSIC AT OLD ST MARY'S

     Over the last 170 years, Old St. Mary’s has maintained a reputation for distinguished choral singing. And for generations, it has been "de rigueur" for our choir to perform orchestral Masses for the Solemnities of Christmas and Easter.

     Our glorious church provides worshipers with a place of refuge from the City and an escape from the cacophony of every day life. Old St. Mary’s is a home for true lovers of the Liturgy and her beloved handmaid, music.

     In the Mass, one encounters a bit of “Heaven on Earth.” And leading the congregation into a “sober intoxification of the Faith” is the task of Old St. Mary’s choir. Our choirmaster and organist meticulously executes this responsibility, giving one an appreciation of the sacred

Old St. Mary's Choir

Tradition of Hosting Great Music

Latin High Mass

Old St. Mary’s choir sings at the 10 am

weekly Latin High Mass on Sunday. With its

fusion of solemn ritual, elegant changes,

and soaring part-music, this Liturgy has

become the staff of life for both devoted parishioners and visitors from near and far.

The choir meets on Thursday at 7 pm (Sept thru June). Membership is open to anyone by audition. Having the voice of an angel or being able to read music is not a pre-requisite. However, dedication and love of God is a major requirement. Email our choir director if you posess this talent, or would like further information.

Old St. Mary's Festival Choir

The beauty and magnificent acoustics of our Church provide for an inspiring setting. The craftsmen in charge of building Old St. Mary’s must of had music in mind when they were constructing these four walls.
